In the winter of 2007, I began work on a project I envisioned would help illustrate the ups and downs of modern-day homesteading. Bob St. Peter, Executive Director of the Good Life Center (Helen and Scott Nearing's Forest Farm homestead in Harborside, Maine) and his wife, Juli Perry, graciously allowed me to document their lives over the course of nine months. The results are poignant, revealing, and I hope will offer encouragement to anyone pursuing a simpler, more sustainable life.
